A couple years ago, a Whole Foods 365 opened up in my neighborhood.
My friend, Anny, loves to cook. She loves using fresh ingredients. And she’s a loyal Trader Joe’s shopper.
She loves the energy of Trader Joe’s. She loves the atmosphere of Trader Joe’s. And she can find most of the organic ingredients she uses to cook at Trader Joe’s.
She decided to give Whole Foods 365 a shot. When she returned from her shopping experience, I asked her what her first impressions were.
She said it’s cold. The lighting isn’t particularly warm. The staff isn’t particularly friendly. And the people shopping there feel like zombies.
Investors are like my friend Anny. And your pitch may be like Whole Foods 365. You may have a good product, a viable marketplace, and customer traction, but if you don’t bring the energy, investors will likely pass.
When you deliver your investor pitch, be like Trader Joes. This doesn’t mean wear a Hawaiian shirt to your investor pitch. It means bring the energy. Provide an authentic experience that excites investors.
Do you follow or pay attention to people’s energy? How has that affected you – positively or negatively? Drop me a note in the comments below.
Be brilliant!
